Cancer Research UK
Sadly everyone seems to know someone with cancer. However, Cancer Research UK's vision is a statement of what they aspire to, why they exist and the impact that they would like to have on society. Their vision of beating cancer is an enormous challenge. These four purpose statements set out how they address that challenge.
1) They carry out world-class research to improve their understanding of cancer and find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat different kinds of cancer
2) They ensure that their findings are used to improve the lives of all cancer patients
3) They help people to understand cancer, the progress they are making and the choices each person can make
4) They work in partnership with others to achieve the greatest impact in the global fight against cancer
All these points come together to do something positive about cancer. Tomorrow Thursday 13th November, Cancer Research UK are hosting their Christmas Fair at the Bank of England Sports Centre, Roehampton, London, SW15 5JQ in order to raise money for the charity. The fair will be open from 9am - 3pm and there will be many stalls all selling wonderful christmas gifts for everyone. Mai Pearls will also be selling there and donating 12% of our takings to Cancer Research UK, so please come and say hello!

Green with Envy
Today I have spent part of the day getting organised to exhibit at Pepsico's fashion and beauty show 2008. Tomorrow employees will be putting on a "green" catwalk show with opportunity for them to make some purchases afterwards. All surpliers will be eco friendly and ethically minded and this is a great way for Pepsico to lend their support to environmentally aware companies.
As you may already know, Mai Pearls gives 10% of it's profits to charity whilst also insuring that their suppliers are paid fair wages and working conditions are good. We also try to reduce packaging where possible and use recycled content and natural dyes.
If your company puts on similar events and you would like Mai Pearls to join in, then please contact us!

Lunch Time Sales
Over the next two weeks, I will be at two of the top london auction houses over the lunchtime period, to promote and sell pearl jewellery. Lunchtime sales have really taken off and with the current weather it is no surprise why! I suppose that it is the equivelent to internet shopping for those of you who prefer to see something in person and to try things on before buying. Shopping this way could not be more convenient and often stall holders offer a special inhouse promotional offer.
Should you wish for Mai Pearls to come into your office to sell, why not contact us on info@maipearls.co.uk

Investments
With the average price of gold doubling since 2005 and Platinum selling at £1,100 per once, pearls are not only becoming more popular but also far more affordable in relation to precious metals.
With their attractive lustre or shine they put the finishing touches to every outfit. The variety in shape, colour and size mean that they go with every look.
So if this April drizzle and late arrival of spring is getting you down, why not treat yourself to something beautiful that will not break the bank? And if gold and platinum prices are anything to go by, your pearl pieces could be a sound investment!

Riding for the Disabled Association Sale
Mai Pearls was at Lains Barn, near Ardington on Wednesday 17th October selling in aid of Riding for the Disabled Association Abingdon Group.
The setting was beautiful; a barn conversion in the middle of the Oxfordshire countryside. The main part of the barn was packed full of other stall selling all sorts of Christmas goodies from books to colourful walking sticks, socks to ice trays and of course, pearls! The sale was a great success and customers thoroughly enjoyed the new Autumn/Winter 07 collection. Money was raised for the Riding for the Disabled Association Abingdon Group and I can rest assured that a fair amount of Oxfordshire residents and their friends and family will be receiving beautiful pearl jewellery this Christmas time!
