Notable Pearls

Pearls have been around for thousands of years, and like diamonds, there are some very old and significant pearls in the world. These include:

This pink and brown pearl dates back to the 11th Century and was supposedly a gift from Marco Polo to Khubilai Khan, the emperor of China. This pearl is an impressive 2301 grains. The pearl gets it’s name from the aristocratic Austrian family it was owned by during the 20th century.

The Hope Pearl

The Hope Pearl is one of the most famous salt water pearls. It is so named because it was owned my Henry Philip Hope, who is also recognized for owning the Hope Diamond. This pearl is gold and white and weighs 1,800 grains. It is currently residing in the British Museum of Natural History. Go and take a look at this amazing pearl.
There are many other notable pearls out there, so keep your ears open for news of them.

We were all very excited to see the designer and founder of Mai Pearls, Henrietta Askew, been interviewed by The Wedding Community Blog!

The Wedding Community Blog

Henrietta Askew

In the interview Henrietta has shared the history of Mai Pearls, its vision and even her favourite jewellery piece! It was great to tell them a bit more about who we are, the blog is a great source of information for brides and events organisers.

Moreover, we have shared the vision of fairness in business. Mai Pearls is really glad that it supports local communities in China, especially through paying fair wages to the women who work with us.

The best of all is that fairness does not imply higher prices. In fact, everyone wins because Mai Pearls still provides quality jewellery and genuine pearls at affordable prices.

Whitewash

S22.jpg According to Vogue, white is the colour for this spring summer. Rediscover the power of head-to-toe white. Flawlessly chic - this is pure, unadulterated style. When you are clothed entirely in white, do not forget to accessorise wisely with what other than some white freshwater pearls!

Whitewash

S22.jpg Vogue suggests that we "rediscover the power of head-to-toe white. Flawlessly chic - this is pure, unadulterated style. Granted, white is a perennial summer favourite, but if this classic non-colour doesn't at first excite, then find comfort in the fact that this season's fun is to be had with shape, form and fabric. Spring's white parade comprises prairie styles, architectural shifts and sweet macrame slips, in addition to a host of slouchy tailoring. In addition, the collections usher in a whole new wave of shirt dressing, from frilled and flamboyant to stiff and starched." Why not complete your white look with accessories such as these gorgous white pearl stud earrings, starting from just £11.99.
