Operation Blessing

Here is a letter from Ma Hucheng, a Chinese child who was sponsored last academic year by Mai Pearls enabling him to go to school...

Dear Aunties and Uncles:

How are you? Wish you a good health and work successful.

Thank you very much for the support. I’m so lucky to have your help and I can go on with my studies. Before the start of this school term, I hesitated on whether to go on with my studies. At that time, it was either my brother or I who would have to discontinue with studies as my family can’t afford the tuition of us both. I wanted to give up my studies to allow my older brother the chance to continue. I really didn’t want make my mother to be burdened with our tuition fees.

On the school enrolment day, when I saw my neighbours’ children go to school together, I felt so painful. I thought I wouldn’t be able to go to school any more. But exceeding my expections, I returned to class and kept on studying again. It’s the help from you that gave me a chance to realise my great dream. I’m so grateful to you. Your support to me is like a delicious meal to a bird who would otherwise starve to death, allowing me to see the good that is on this earth. Thank you very much.

My dear aunties and uncles, I just wish you well to your health and work from the bottom of my heart.

Sincerely yours,
Ma Hucheng
